Zechariah 4:10

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand...

About Us

The Beloved Community Resource Center is a sub-station for change. Our objective and focus are to provide quality services that enable persons to become self-sufficient, self-confident, and productive members of the community as well as in our society. Our three main areas of service are:Community Services, Economic Development, and Education. Beloved Community Resource Center is here to provide a sound and safe environment that will increase opportunity for personal and collective growth within our community.

Our Mission

The Beloved Community Resource Center is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and implement programs to empower and improve the quality of life for individuals and families within the community.

Community Service

For the last past 8 years, we have partnered with The Beloved Church of God in Christ to nourish the people of the community by providing food programs, information for disaster shelter purposes only and promoting a safe and sanitary community environment for all cultures and ages. Our center is available to bring families together by hosting events such as Community Days, a fun day for the whole family to come out and share in free food, games, and entertainment for the entire family. Thanksgiving dinners and Turkey giveaway, Christmas Dinner & Gift Extravaganza. Our center is also available to host town meetings to keep the community informed.

We have a partnership with Food Finders Inc. and Southern California Long Beach Food Bank offering free take home groceries once a month every fourth (4th) Saturday from 10:00am until 1:00 pm. A program that is well needed as it services the need of 95-156 families 432-667 individuals monthly. The majority are Latinos, African Americans, and homeless, with youth, middle-age, and seniors as well. Through the participants, that come out and help with the set- up and clean-up a small amount of funding helps with janitorial services after this event.

As a shelter site, we offer the handouts for informational purposes only. We are not a shelter but can provide information only on where people can turn to for assistance. We provide the community with a choice for the support and service coordination needed to make a positive difference in everyday lives. Beloved Community Resource Center connects people to a network of supports and services essential for actively learning, working, and living in the community.

The Beloved Community Resource Center provides supportive services for individuals and families seeking information, referral, and service coordination. Areas include mental health, intellectual disabilities, substance abuse and other human service needs. We work in collaboration with other human service agencies; identifying needs in the community and effectively responding to locate, coordinate, and monitor services.

Economic Development

The Beloved Community Resource Center is committed to the eradication of Homelessness, Hunger and Poverty within the surrounding community. We will seek people in need where they may be found and utilize education and training programs to assist in addressing their needs and the needs of their families. We are dedicated to restoring and maintaining the self- esteem of all the people we serve within the community. The donations and contributions from government and private organizations collaborating with community and individual assistance will greatly advance our mission.

The effective use of our resources will have a wide impact and magnify the effect brought about by the distribution of furniture and clothing taken in by our organization. The methods used to impart educational programs will include, but not be limited to, classroom instruction, on-the- job training, written self-study materials and recorded messages and lectures. We will encourage the volunteer work of professionals and laypersons.

Our transitional Work and Trades Program will assist local persons, those recently released from incarceration and their families by providing job skills training, mentoring, counseling, and immediate marketable vocational training, which may be used at our site or as part our

referral network. We believe that as the members of the community become investors in the community they will respond more responsibly. The ongoing pursuit of our goal and

networking of this plan will lead to a positive change in the surrounding community and the people that live within the community.

Education

We will work with local non-profits, organizations, and schools to provide opportunities for enlightening the minds of our youth. Providing them with the resources and tools of tutors, needed for after school programs such as Reading, English, Mathematics, Writing, and sport activities.

Through the support of many local events, the rental of space, and grants, will help off-set the true cost for the classes and programs ready to be implemented. We are always looking to find ways through the many means made possible through grant writing, fund-raisers, and the generosity of others, to keep the hope within the community alive.
